Alex Book Steering Wheel

About

Introduction
I am Alex Book, an artist, illustrator, and researcher of automotive and motorsport history. I create highly detailed, historically accurate artworks that capture the spirit and drama of racing through the years. Every piece reflects my commitment to professionalism, careful research, and an extraordinary attention to detail.
Biography / Background
Born in Russia in 1979, I now live and work in Beer-Sheva, Israel. My fascination with cars and motorsport began in early childhood, and I drew my first automobile at the age of two. Since then, I have dedicated my life to capturing the history of racing through art. I am inspired by legendary drivers, iconic cars, and the stories behind each race, from technical innovations to the unique challenges faced on the track.
My artworks, including the series The Early Days of Motor Racing and Formula Racing History, are exhibited in museums such as the Garage Museum of Special Purpose in Moscow and the Nick Panuli Motorsport Museum at the Sochi Autodrom, as well as in private collections worldwide. Key projects include my series on the history of Formula 1, IndyCar, and NASCAR.
Artistic Approach
What sets my work apart is the combination of meticulous historical research and hand-crafted artistry. Before starting a new painting, I study archival photos, period documents, magazines, and race reports to ensure that every car, driver, and racetrack is depicted exactly as it was on race day. From car specifications, colors, and tires to driver attire, helmets, and the atmosphere of the circuit — every element is carefully rendered.
Philosophy
“Authenticity, precision, and historical accuracy in every brush stroke.” My mission is to preserve motorsport history and make it accessible through the power of art.
Collaborate and Explore
I welcome collaborations with museums, art agencies, and collectors who share a passion for the rich history of motorsport. Together, we can bring legendary races, drivers, and classic racing cars to life through meticulously researched and hand-crafted artworks.

I work in traditional Ink & Watercolor on professional watercolor paper, in the style of vintage engravings, and also create digital paintings entirely by hand on a graphic tablet using Ink & Oil Painting techniques. Each piece is not just a racing car — it’s a complete historical investigation brought to life as a true work of art.
